Eradicating child poverty once and for all will be good for all children and will benefit all schools.
The effects of child poverty can be seen every day in the classroom. Hungry, malnourished, poorly clothed, unhealthy and badly housed children can neither learn effectively nor achieve their full educational potential.
Schools, children and young people have a crucial role in ensuring that the Government keep their promise and end child poverty.
To this end, the Campaign to End Child Poverty together with ATL, the NASUWT and NUT have produced a resource pack for schools. It is a tool to help with lesson planning and raising the issue in school assemblies. Included in the pack are:
- Key facts and definitions of poverty
- International comparisons
- Case studies
- Sources of further information
- Details on how schools can get involved with the Keep the Promise rally in London on Saturday, 4th October 2008
- There is also the opportunity to enter into a banner making competition. Your school could be leading the rally of thousands of people into Trafalgar Square!
Help us unlock the potential of the one in three children living in poverty in the UK today. Click here to access the pack and find out more.
