Hilary Fisher, Director of the Campaign to End Child Poverty said: “While progress towards the halfway target of 2010 is slow, the Government must be commended for putting forward legislation to enshrine the target of ending child poverty by 2020 in law.
Child poverty impacts on every aspect of children's lives and cost us all. If the Government is to keep its promise to millions of children living in poverty it must ensure that this law is be strong enough to establish that ending the UK's appallingly high level of child poverty becomes a priority for this and any future government."
